The Aggregators Among Us

You may have heard a lot of recent buzz about Alltop’s new domain channel. Personally, I don’t get it. Inspired by Popurls, Alltops has more categories and topics, but basically does the same thing… aggregates RSS/Atom feeds and display them for you in tight boxes on the screen.

Well, I can do that! Let’s see if what they say in the “about” page is true: “Aggregate and display a bunch of sites for people, and they will come.” With the help of WordPress and a little theme also inspired by Popurls, I’ve created PopupNews.com.

It’s NOT just an Alltop clone, I’m adding Chat and Video widgets too with more features coming online today to enhance the UX (user-experience). Stay Tuned!

Christmas is Coming!

I’ve made a new Christmas Gifts eBay store on my SmartChristmas.com domain. I’m adding other affiliate links from CJ.com and NeverBlueAds.com. Talk about a THIN affiliate site! Google hates these, so traffic to them won’t last long unless it’s a super niche, and THOSE won’t give you the volume you need anyway.

The template includes a new widget-plugin I wrote to display ad creatives using the WPAds plugin in the sidebar so you don’t have to modify the original template. Very Handy!

Tales from the Log

Reviewing your site’s log files is certainly how I like to spend my Sunday evenings, how about YOU? Some interesting things always show up having to do with all sorts of things like: traffic sources, keyword ranking and even who’s scraping your content or theme. Here a few examlpes from my Women’s Handbags site.

LOL. Someone scraped or downloaded a page with the stats code still installed and viewed it in a browser.

Yes! Ranking for “designer accessories for less”

Another great keyword to rank for

The great thing about the eBay script and the Google crawler is that you may end up ranking for anything and your page can STILL display relevant products.
